riverrun

a stone so many times kissed
that it no longer minds

now yields
to these lips of mine

Lieber William,

herzlichst, Rachel

Thank you, Rachel. It seems anything treated with reverence will become sacred over time — at least that’s one thought that passed through my mind while writing the poem, and which my crippled translation of your comment reminds me of now. I also had a couple of other things in mind, which I won’t relate just yet (if indeed I ever do), because I’d rather see what, if anything, else the poem suggests to other readers.
