William Michaelian by Cassandra LaMothe

I’m absolutely amazed by this. Cassie, as I’m sure some of you are aware from her blog, writes some terrific poems. But she is also quite the artist — a fact she’s very quiet about. Now, I don’t want to drag her kicking and screaming into the limelight. But for a work like this — and so appropriately titled! — she should at least have to endure a few moments in the lemonlight, don’t you think?

Cassie, I’m honored. This is a beautiful thing you’ve done, and it’s something I’ll treasure all my life. Thank you.

Wow!

Cassie, your portrait is van Dyck quality!

And, William, what a terrific image. Little as I've known you I can see she's got the essence of you here.

I'm always amazed at the talent, often unrecognized and unappreciated, that's out there!

Thanks, Caio, I’m glad you came to see this. I think it’s a great drawing. In fact, I think it looks more like me than I do....

Conrad, we’ve talked about that before. Wonderful surprises are lurking everywhere. And I was delighted to read your comment on Cassie’s post. Thanks.

Thanks, Noxy!

Rudhi, I love it. Thanks for the education.

I agree, Aleksandra. It’s been a few hours now, but I am still in shock — the good kind.

Thank you, Laura. It’s inspiring to read comments like these from such fine artists, all whose work I admire.

And again, that goes for all of you!

Thanks for introducing us to Cassie and her work--both poems and drawings. It's a terrific portrait, and as Conrad noted, she's captured your essence.

Which would have been impossible, I think, if she did not also possess a wonderful-wicked-wise sense of humor. Thanks, Annie, and thanks for visiting Cassie’s blogs.

lol well William, your face is quite popular! I am glad that you like it :) And thanks to everyone else! In all fairness I believe the photographer captured William's essence first! It came out a wee bit more severe than I intended, but I imagine there is a smile lurking under there somewhere :P As for the Lemonlight -- I'll take it I suppose... I believe I have some Tanqueray and tonic around here somewhere..

I’ll drink to that. For awhile there, I was afraid you weren’t going to come out and take a bow. I’ve had some very nice private comments as well, including one from the photographer (my son). And I agree, he did do a fine job. All things considered, anyone who can make me appear even semi-legitimate deserves some kind of award. But really, this drawing made my day, and I meant every word I said. Thanks again.
