Hi, Jan. As luck would have it, I chanced on a half-price sale at a St. Vincent de Paul store not far from here. This old beauty was only a dollar. I also found three volumes of a six-volume set of Robert Burns, published in 1909, with fold-out facsimiles from his manuscripts, also for a dollar apiece.

I often wonder if it is you who find these lovely old books, or if it is they that find you. Either way, it is a match made in heaven for both. You are a true bibliophile, William~~~

However it happens, I’m grateful. In this case I do think there was a bit of magic involved, because I had been browsing the shelves for quite some time when a store employee arrived with a cart to replenish the gaps, and right before my eyes she slipped in those three Burns volumes, then quietly stole away.

See. They were waiting just for you, William. And there's the magick~~~
