How wonderful for you, William, and how beautiful. Funny how something comes from out of the blue with your birthday date on it! Now you know of one thing that was happening as you came into the world :)

Thanks, Jan. When I turned over this little hand-carved chest in the store and read those words, I felt like someone was sending me a message....

Thank you, Robert. Thank you, Laura. I agree. And its journey in this world continues. I am its lucky caretaker now. Or is it mine? I wonder.

How wonderful that this book should make it into your hands. In its state of abandonment it must have been looking to revive and relive how it felt on that day of its first being given, with someone who might understand the significance of the date. I suppose you share a birthday now and can celebrate together!

Enjoy the holidays!

Thanks, Gabriella! Finding these things is always a moment of sadness and wonder, as I can’t help imagining the circumstances that led to their being discarded. But the imagining itself is a necessity and a joy.

All the best to you in your new home this season.
